Batching the NFL
We should know enough now to make some safe predictions. Of course injuries can always happen.
Let’s make this simple. I’m going to batch up the teams and their potential for the rest of the year. There’s only 6 teams with a shot at the Super Bowl. Everyone else - playing for next year.
Super Bowl Contenders: These are the teams that have a legit chance of winning the Super Bowl. Requires mental toughness (experience in big games), talent, coaching, and yes a great QB.
Kansas City Chiefs
Baltimore Ravens
Cincinnati Bengals
Philadelphia Eagles
San Francisco 49ers
Dallas Cowboys
Solid Playoff Teams: These teams are a year away from being true contenders or are on the down side of their competitive windows with their current rosters.
Buffalo Bills
Jacksonville Jaguars
Miami Dolphins
Detroit Lions
Seattle Seahawks
Bubble Teams: Could make the playoffs, but really, they’ve got no shot. It’s just a dab of experience and an extra paycheck.
Los Angeles Chargers
Tennessee Titans
Houston Texans
Cleveland Browns
NY Jets
Minnesota Vikings
New Orleans Saints
Playing for next year:
Denver Broncos
Indianapolis Colts
Las Vegas Raiders
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Chicago Bears
Green Bay Packers
LA Rams
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Washington Commanders
Might as well start dumping games for the top draft pick: These teams have a lack of talent, leadership (at least on the field), and are several years away from being contenders.
New England patriots
Arizona Cardinals - time to dump the QB and start over.
NY Giants
There you go. My completely ‘un-scienceey’ ranking of the teams. Let me know what you think.
NFL: Week 10
Last week’s totals: 7 - 7
Season’s totals: 93 - 52
Oh, and if you use these picks to gamble do so at your own risks. I’m a ‘gut feel’ type of picker. I don’t do a computer analysis.
