NFL Week 10, 2024: San Fran Gets Their Guy Back
Will it spark the offense and make Purdy da' man again.
NFL Quick Hitters:
DeAndre Hopkins - The guy just knows how to play football. One of the best assets the Chiefs possess that no one talks about it football IQ. They are the smartest team in the league. And not just the players. They have the best, and smartest, top-to-bottom coaching staff. Hopkins is a perfect fit. He knows the game and sees it just like Mahomes. This gives them an instant connection. Mahomes said: His body language is easy to read. Watch out.
49ers - get Christian McCaffrey back. Sound muscle injuries are very difficult and time consuming to recover from. Calf strains can linger and linger and linger. Let’s see if he is 100%. He makes them go. He makes the offense and the defense better. He scores touchdowns. And most importantly he makes the team a contender. Don’t think they can beat the Lions but with McCaffrey, they have a shot.
Saquon Barkley’s video game move - that may have been the coolest move I’ve ever seen on a football field. Saquon Barkley is having a career year. He’s ‘just playing ball.’ He may just run the Eagles into the Super Bowl. At least if they can find a way to run it past the Lions.
Cardinals - I think I have a mental block on this team. Maybe from watching them get crushed all those years against the Cowboys. And I’m not the biggest Kyler Murray fan. But Murray is playing great. The team can score on anyone. And they can run the ball. They are hard to defense. They are sort of a poor man’s Ravens team. Think I’ll give them a little love this week in a tough game. The team has a definite shot at the playoffs.
NFL Games: Week 9
Last week’s totals: 13 - 2: Got the feel now. This week should be good as well. There aren’t too many competitive games this week.
Season’s totals: 96 - 42
Survivor pick/Lock of the week: (current streak 6) Eagles - Eagles hate the Cowboys. They get the ‘Boys when they are down and the Eagles are streaking. This one could be ugly, ugly. Eagles by double digits.
(Oh, and if you use these picks - or the fantasy lineup at the bottom - to gamble do so at your own risks. I’m a ‘gut feel’ type of picker. I don’t do a computer analysis.)
Week 10: Thursday Night Game
Bengals vs. Ravens - The Bengals longest of shots to make the playoffs evaporates this week. Despite Joe Burrow playing at an all-time level they lose. Ravens may be the most difficult team in the league to stop. Ravens win.
Sunday Games
Giants vs. Panthers - Ugh. Giants can run the ball. And they can pressure the QB. Bryce Young looks better this time around but the Panthers are short on talent. Giants win.
Patriots vs. Bears - The battle of rookie QB’s. Caleb has had his ups and downs. But they’ve won the ones they aare suppose to win. Thank you bears defense. Maye looks like a talent if not the next coming of Tom Brady. Maye sparkles but Bears win.
Bills vs. Colts - Bills are playing great. We’ll see if they get past the Chiefs this year. Or the Ravens. Bills win.
Vikings vs. Jags - Jags are now the most confusing team in the league. They are talented on both sides of the ball. They just don’t seem to show up to play in the first half. Regardless of how the season ends - they aren’t making the playoffs - they’ll have a new coaching staff next year. They’ve had chances to win in every game. Lawrence is nursing a bad shoulder and may not play. Either way. Vikings win.
Broncos vs. Chiefs - Until further notice - I don’t think they will or care about going undefeated - Chiefs win.
Falcons vs. Saints - This is a division and rivalry game. Saints have a new coaches but have also traded some of their key players. Tough to guess whether the cahnges will add some life or they’ve decided to phone it in. If they get off to a hot start they may have a chance. But I doubt it. Falcons win.
49ers vs. Buccaneers - This will be one of the most competitive games of the week. I hope McCaffrey stays healthy. If so, he’ll be a difference maker. 49ers win.
Steelers vs. Commanders - This is the fun game of the week. Commanders are playing like a seasoned team that knows how to win. They will be a force for the next few years. They add a key piece to their defense in Marshon Lattimore. And they are at home. Commanders win.
Titans vs. Chargers - Jim Harbaugh broke out the Dad jokes this week. Why is 6 afraid of 7? Because 7, 8, 9. Enough said. Chargers win.
Jets vs. Cardinals - Jets are on a mini-roll and feeling like they ahve a chance. The AFC is heavy at the top -Chiefs, Ravens, Bills - but everyone else is struggling. It’s weird to say but if the Jets win this game they have an outside shot at the playoffs. I still think they are done though. Cardinals run the ball up the gut and pressure the QB. Cardinals win.
Eagles vs. Cowboys - No Dak No chance. Although, I doubt Dak would’ve of made a difference. IF Parsons is on the field it may stay a little closer but either way this is a double digit win for the Eagles. Eagles win.
Lions vs. Texans - Texans offensive line is a disgrace They remind me of the Jets line last year. The Texans fight but go down hard. Lions win.
Monday Night Game
Dolphins vs. Rams - This will be another fun, high-flying game. Dolphins will score some points but I think Stafford has teh ball last and pulls it out. Rams win.
My FanDuel lineup: (Last week score was a dud, - $22) Week 10: J. Hurts, Barkley, White, Hopkins, Williams, Harrison Jr., Kmet, Otton, Lions. I have high hopes for this team.
Season score: +$5
