When I was in college, I had a couple of people knock on my door, and they looked harmless enough so I opened it. One of them earnestly asked me if I thought about the future. Thinking of all the science and science fiction I read, I said, "Yes." Then she asked what I put my faith in the future in. I promptly replied, "Science, technology, and rational thought." They thanked me and left. It took me a while to figure out that they were there trying to convert me to a religion. Where I'd grown up, over 90% of the state was Mormon, so we didn't have proselytizers come by. These were my first.
